This is the headwater tributary of the Amazon in south-eastern Peru. In the vicinity of the Manu Wildlife Centre it is incredibly shallow and treachorous in places, making navigation difficult. Also, large trees occasionally come crashing down into the water, or break lose and drift down the river, blocking the way.
